Refreshing news for local motorists, the price of petrol at the pumps will drop at midnight today. Petrol will drop by 36 cents a litre, and diesel will decrease by between 44 cents and 47 cents per litre.

Motorists will pay less for petrol at the pumps from Wednesday, thanks to the rand’s strong-and-stable performance against the dollar over the past month, the Department of Energy said.

According to the Department of Energy illuminating paraffin will decrease between 23 cents and 30 cents while liquefied petroleum gas will drop by 69 cents. These fuel prices will be effective as of March 7.

The reduction in international fuel prices has also contributed to the lower basic fuel price on petrol, diesel and illuminating paraffin.
