And Lusaka Province Police Commissioner Nelson Phiri says the police has asked the opposition to furnish them with evidence suggesting that some foreigners have registered as voters.

Mr Phiri has told ZNBC news that it is now a week since the police requested evidence but so far nothing has been forthcoming.

He confirmed that police received the complaint from former Mazabuka Central Member of Parliament Garry Nkombo and former Chongwe Mp Silvia Masebo alleging that the Electoral Commission of Zambia had registered foreigners as voters.

On Thursday ECZ Chairperson Essau Chulu during a stakeholders meeting said the Commission is aware of the complaint of some foreigners allegedly registering as voters and that he will only issue a comment once police complete their investigations.
